HALBERSTADT RESIDENCE REMODEL

Tiburon, California

The Halberstadt House in Paradise Cay, Tiburon, California was a complete remodel of a 1959 Cliff May midcentury home.

The transformation of the spaces included the expansion of a small and partially enclosed kitchen that was opened to the Living and Dining space. A folding glass door was added opening to the central courtyard, and the roofs over the Living Room and master bedroom wings were raised to enhance the vaulted ceilings and allowed for taller windows and doors also facing the courtyard.

The ridge skylight was a trademark of many Cliff May homes and great effort was taken to preserve the design and replicate this element with a new ridge skylight.
