GOLETA BATTERY STORAGE FACILITY DESIGN-BID-BUILD

Goleta, California

Battery storage facilities play a crucial role in stabilizing power grids by responding instantly—within milliseconds—to outages or fluctuations. As the fastest dispatchable source of energy, battery storage also addresses the intermittency challenges of renewable sources like wind and solar.

At Omni Design, we support clean energy developers by providing architectural design, site planning, and infrastructure development for battery storage projects in urban settings.

One of our projects, the Goleta 60-megawatt battery storage facility, includes 62 Tesla Megapacks. The facility is expected to deliver approximately 87,600 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to power 13,257 California homes annually.

To integrate the project seamlessly into the community, the site will be landscaped to shield it from view from the nearby roadway, a neighboring brewery sharing the parking lot, and a proposed residential development. With an estimated investment of $50 to $60 million, the project was approved by the Goleta Planning Commission in 2021.
