ATLAS COPCO MAFI-TRENCH MANUFACTURING FACILITY DESIGN-BUILD

Santa Maria, California

This project involved the development of a 50,000-square-foot engineering and management office and a 180,000-square-foot heavy manufacturing facility on a 20-acre site in the City of Santa Maria. Omni Design, Inc. led the full entitlement process, including documentation for zoning re-designation and land use permitting.

Initially paused in January 2015 due to a global decline in oil and natural gas prices, the project was revived in early 2020 with a revised scope aimed at a smaller facility, reflecting the decreased global demand for fossil fuels.

Scope of Work
Omni Design collaborated with the client from the conceptual phase through to the completion of construction documents. Services included programming, site selection, and planning for future expansion opportunities.

Site Improvements
Key site improvements include:

  • Low Impact Development (LID) strategies for parking and circulation

  • Thoughtful landscaping and stormwater retention systems

  • Extensive utility infrastructure, including an on-site sewage system

All buildings and site features were designed to meet the corporate standards of Atlas Copco, targeting LEED Silver certification, and exceeding the minimum requirements of the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen).
