As one of the fastest growing small businesses on the Central Coast, Precision Construction purchased an existing 20,936-square-foot office and warehouse building in San Luis Obispo with the intent of converting it into their new headquarters. Project Manager Shane Maples led the effort from concept design, working closely with Precision’s leadership team to understand the needs of their staff, workflows, and day-to-day operations before developing a comprehensive interior transformation.

Key Features

• Open & Collaborative Layout: The existing lobby was opened to the floor above to introduce natural light and a prominent entry experience. Open work areas were zoned by department, with dedicated conference rooms and meeting spaces offering varying degrees of privacy for groups of all sizes.

• Flexible Individual Workspaces: Phone booths were designed for small individual meetings and calls requiring sound privacy, giving staff the ability to step away from the open office environment without leaving the floor.

• Modern Finishes & Atmosphere: Ceilings were removed and replaced with custom lighting and acoustic treatments. A staff breakroom was added, and the overall result is a cutting-edge space that is modern, comfortable, and filled with natural light.

Outcome

Construction is complete and Precision Construction has fully occupied the space. The project transformed a gloomy, underutilized building into a light-filled open-plan workplace tailored to the company’s culture and growth. The collaborative process between Omni Design and Precision’s team exemplifies the firm’s commitment to adaptive reuse and client-centered design.
