Drain Repair at Oak Shores Wastewater Treatment Plant
Project Information
Location
San Luis Obispo, CA
Client
County of San Luis Obispo
Omni Design provided topographic survey services to address erosion near the Oak Shores Wastewater Treatment Facility, a property of the County of San Luis Obispo. Portions of the survey area were inaccessible due to steep slopes, requiring a specialized approach to ensure complete and accurate coverage of the site.
Key Features
Drone-Assisted Survey: Omni deployed their in-house drone to collect survey data in areas that were unsafe or cost-prohibitive with conventional ground-based methods, enabling complete site coverage efficiently and without risk to field personnel.
Comprehensive Deliverables: Field survey included location of relevant monuments to establish property lines, mapping of all physical features related to drainage and erosion, and production of a topographic map and orthophoto at 1-foot contour intervals (5-foot index) in NAD83 Zone 5 and NAVD 88.
Responsive Scope Management: An expanded survey area was added mid-project and delivered without delay, reflecting Omni’s flexibility and commitment to client needs.
Outcome
The County of San Luis Obispo expressed satisfaction with both the quality of the survey deliverables and the team’s responsive handling of the expanded scope. The topographic data and orthophoto provided the County with the foundation needed to evaluate and design effective drainage and erosion control solutions at the Oak Shores facility.
