This Design-Build project at Vandenberg Space Force Base focused on the comprehensive redesign and replacement of an aging water distribution system to establish a more reliable and efficient network. Omni Design partnered with general contractor RORE, Inc. and coordinated closely with government representatives, preparing all submittals and specification documents in compliance with VAFB Facilities Excellence Standards.

Key Features

• System Upgrades: The new water main and associated appurtenances span approximately 8,939 linear feet, beginning at the intersection of Aero Road and Tangair Road and extending to multiple base facilities including buildings along Porto Road, Piro Road, and Mono and Oro Roads.

• Improved Reliability: Key objectives included eliminating dead ends in the distribution system, improving water quality, and enhancing the ability to isolate pipeline segments without interrupting service to adjacent areas.

• Standards Compliance: All submittals, specification documents, and construction coordination were executed in strict accordance with VAFB Facilities Excellence Standards, meeting the base’s requirements for documentation and quality assurance.

Outcome

The completed water distribution system significantly improved the reliability and quality of water service across the affected facilities at Vandenberg Space Force Base. The project demonstrated Omni Design’s capability to manage the regulatory and technical demands of working on an active military installation, delivering a critical infrastructure upgrade on schedule and in full compliance with federal standards.
